The Indian Army concluded its participation in the multinational military exercise Khaan Quest 2026, held from June 20 to July 3 at the Five Hills Training Area in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
According to the Army, the 23rd edition of the exercise brought together more than 1,000 troops from 18 countries, providing a platform to enhance interoperability, strengthen coordination and improve operational readiness for United Nations peace support operations under Chapter VII of the U.N. Charter.
Originally launched as a bilateral exercise between the United States and Mongolia in 2003, Khaan Quest evolved into a multilateral U.N. peacekeeping exercise in 2006. This year’s edition included both Command Post and Field Training components, focusing on U.N. operational standards, joint planning and multinational coordination.

The closing ceremony was attended by Maj. Gen. Baasandamba Dashtseden, Deputy Minister of Defence of Mongolia, and Lt. Gen. Ganbyamba Sunrev, Chief of General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces, who commended the professionalism and commitment of all participating contingents.
The Indian Army expressed gratitude to the Government of Mongolia and the Mongolian Armed Forces for hosting the exercise and said the experience gained during Khaan Quest 2026 would further strengthen joint operational capabilities, enhance interoperability and deepen defence cooperation among the participating nations.
