Amid travel disruptions due to the escalating tensions in the West Asia, an Indian businessman in Dubai has opened his 64-unit apartment complex to accommodate stranded Indian nationals. The initiative comes as many Indians in the UAE face difficulties returning home due to flight cancellations and delays.

In a generous move, Yogesh Doshi, Chairman of Al Mizan Group, has opened his entire 64-apartment residential building to Indians stranded in the city. The apartments are being offered free of charge and come with basic facilities, including meals.

Doshi said the initiative, organised in coordination with the Indian People’s Forum UAE and the Consulate General of India in Dubai, has provided temporary shelter to over 125 Indians, including families with children, during this challenging period.

Several stranded families told NDTV that the support arrived at a critical time. Mohit Vachhani, along with Riya Makadia, Paras Bhalodia, and Grishma Bhalodia, said they were struggling as their hotel bookings had ended and extensions were not available.

According to them, they were also receiving continuous security alerts on their phones because of the regional tensions, which added to the anxiety.

“We were in a very tough spot. Our hotel stay had ended, and with no clear travel options, we didn’t know where to go. Learning about this accommodation was a huge relief," they said, adding that the facility gave them a safe place to stay during uncertain times.

Several stranded Indian travelers have taken refuge in a shelter home in Ajman, located just a few kilometres from Dubai. UAE-based businessman Dhiraj Jain has converted his large farmhouse into temporary accommodation for those unable to return home immediately.

The shelter provides free lodging and meals to travelers left without money or a place to stay.

In addition, Jain has arranged 11 cars, including six Rolls-Royces, to pick up stranded passengers from hotels and other locations and transport them to the farmhouse.

The initiative quickly gained widespread attention after being widely shared on social media.

Sandeep Chaudhari praised Jain and his family for their extraordinary support to stranded individuals during recent airport closures and flight cancellations. Chaudhari noted that the Jains stayed, ate, and slept alongside the stranded guests to ensure no one felt alone.

He also pointed out that Dhiraj Jain arranged pick-ups for guests using his own 3–4 Rolls-Royce cars, calling it “a true example that luxury means nothing without humanity."

The war in the West Asia intensified after the United States and Israel launched coordinated air and missile strikes on Iran on 28 February 2026, in a campaign that targeted military infrastructure and leadership, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The attacks, which marked a major escalation in regional tensions, set off a sharp retaliation from Iran. In response, Tehran has fired missiles and drones at Israel and U.S. forces and allied bases throughout the Gulf, and U.S. and Israeli forces have continued to strike Iranian targets as the conflict spreads across the region.
