AJ Styles has taken up a new role within the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) universe after bidding farewell to the ring at the Royal Rumble 2026. The ‘Phenomenal One’ spoke about his new duties for the company, offering details about his exciting fresh role on the Phenomenally Retro podcast over YouTube.

Styles, who had put his career on the line heading into the latest Royal Rumble edition in January, famously lost his final battle with Gunther at the WWE PLE. He has since happily moved into the retirement mode, while still being connected with the WWE in

a role he looks forward to.

AJ Styles – WWE Scout

During the podcast, Styles indicated he has taken up the mantle as a WWE scout who is eyeing fresh recruits for the company. In this role, the former champion said, he is also keen to help young talents reach new heights through his mentorship and technical

guidance.

“I’m looking for talent and I’m looking to see what I can do, if I can do anything for them. If they can get better," Styles said.

“Little things like that. If there is a possibility of them getting a WWE ID or something, then hopefully I can facilitate and

get that to happen."

“As of right now, it’s a little slow, but there are phone calls that are going to have to be made to make sure my job is done and it’s not just with indie talent. It’ll be NXT talent and it may mean main roster talent as well."

‘That’s What I Am There For’

Further digging into his scouting and talent support role, Styles emphasised the need to have someone who could boost the “morale" of WWE’s young recruits, giving them the confidence to enter the ring and eventually go the distance.

“I’m gonna go to Seattle for Raw and talk to talent. Who knows. Sometimes, you need to talk to somebody to see how they’re feeling and maybe they want to go down to the PC and work on some stuff. I’m that guy. That’s what I’m there for. The morale, if I can help make sure it’s still there in a good way, I want to be that guy," he mentioned.

“There are a lot of things I’m going to be doing. As things come up, it’ll change, I’m sure the job will. As of right now, that’s kind of what I’m doing."

Styles will be one of the latest inductees into the WWE Hall of Fame later in the year for his outstanding contributions and a largely successful journey.
