Inmate, Accused Of Killing His Extramarital Partner, Hangs Self In Tihar Jail Hospital

The prisoner was arrested in April this year over murder charges. He allegedly died by suicide at Tihar Jail hospital, officials said.

A murder-accused prisoner at Delhi’s Tihar Jail allegedly died by suicide at the prison’s hospital by hanging himself from a window, officials said on Tuesday.

He was an under-trial inmate, identified as Ramesh Karmakar, who was lodged in Jail Number 4. He was undergoing treatment at the jail hospital in Jail Number 3 since May 28.

His body was found hanging from a window on the night of July 13, after which the jail authorities were informed the next day, officials said.

He was arrested on April 22 for allegedly killing his partner after she threatened to tell his wife about their relationship.
