Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a new housing complex for Members of Parliament on Baba Kharak Singh Marg in New Delhi. The project comprises 184 new Type-VII multi-storey flats housed across four towers — Krishna, Godavari, Kosi, and Hooghly — each rising approximately 23 storeys high. (Image: X)

Each flat spans an impressive about 5,000 square feet of carpet area — reportedly making them even more spacious than the elite Type-VIII bungalows in Lutyens’ Delhi. (Image: X)

The interiors include a drawing and dining room, family lounge, puja room, and five bedrooms, each with an attached dressing area and en-suite bathroom. The kitchens are fully modular, fitted with cooking hobs, chimneys, and ample storage, while wardrobes in all rooms are modular as well. Balconies extend from every room and office, ensuring natural light and ventilation. Flooring is a mix of wooden panels in the office and master bedroom, and vitrified tiles elsewhere. Each flat is equipped with a video door phone, WiFi connectivity, centralised cable TV, EPABX telephone system, piped natural gas, RO water filter, refrigerator, and kitchen geyser. Such provisions aim to offer MPs a turnkey, move-in-ready experience. (Image: X)

Beyond individual flats, the complex offers a six-storey amenity block featuring a canteen, gym, yoga space, community hall, dispensary, service centre, guest rooms, shops, and club facilities. Committed to green and sustainable design, the complex includes solar rooftop panels with a capacity of 400 kWp, rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment and water recycling systems, dual plumbing, energy-efficient lighting and fans, low-flow fixtures, garbage chutes, and GRIHA 3-star rating compliance along with adherence to the 2016 National Building Code. Built with durable, monolithic concrete and aluminium shuttering, the structures are both earthquake-resistant and built to last, with a design lifespan exceeding a century. (Image: X)
