New Delhi: Instagram has officially added the most-awaited feature that many users wanted in its application. This feature will let the users to edit their comments after posting, addressing long-standing issues around fixing typos or rephrasing messages.

This upgrade also removes the need to delete and repost comments for those minor corrections in the comments, though it comes with a fixed time limit and certain restrictions. The company has also announced a feature via its official account on the X platform, stating that comment editing is now available within a 15-minute window for users.

The users can now edit their comments within 15 minutes of posting them. During 15-minute sessions, multiple edits are enabled by offering the users flexibility to correct typos or rephrase their thoughts without deleting the comment entirely. Once the users edit the comment, there will be a label that indicates changes have been made in the comment.

This platform does not offer access to the original version of the comment. This also differs from services like iMessage, where users can view the edit history. After the 15-minute period window closes, comments become fixed and can no longer be modified by the users.

Some platforms have already provided comment or message editing features similar to Instagram. This feature comes with certain restrictions; editing is limited to the text only. If the comment includes both text and an image, the users can modify the written part but cannot change or remove the attached images.

Whereas the feature solves basic editing issues, it does not fully cover all types of comment formats on the platform. Now, the availability of this feature is currently limited to beta users. But with the official announcement, it is expected to reach a wider audience soon.
