Dibrugarh: Lakhimpur and Dhemaji DCs, Aditya Vikram Yadav and Rahul Suresh Javir respectively, jointly conducted a field visit to the Bordoibam Bilmukh Bird Sanctuary and the Dulung-Subansiri Conservation Area on Friday to enhance to strengthening inter-district conservation efforts.Discussions during the visit centred on the ecological significance of these areas, boundary demarcation, inter-departmental coordination and the formulation of long-term conservation measures to safeguard the fragile wetland and forest ecosystems.The Bordoibam Bilmukh Bird Sanctuary, an 11.25 sq km wetland situated on the border of Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts, serves as a crucial breeding and wintering ground for migratory waterfowl, most notably the large Whistling Teal. Over 181 bird species have been recorded within its boundaries.“These ecosystems are irreplaceable. These steps are essential for building a robust and lasting conservation framework,” Yadav said.
