New Delhi: Apple has started preparing one of its major software interface upgrades in recent years with the iOS 27 update. Apple is working on a redesigned Camera application with customizable controls, which might let users rearrange controls such as flash, exposure, timer, resolution, and photo styles via movable widgets.
Along with the Camera application upgrade, Apple is also working on a more conversational version of Siri, a refreshed system interface, and changes across the applications such as Safari, Weather, and Image Playground. Apple is expected to preview many of these changes during its Worldwide Developers Conference 2026, which is scheduled to take place from June 8 to June 12.
Apple is also redesigning the Camera application to enable users to decide which controls appear on the screen and where they are positioned. Users might be able to switch between the current default controls and a more advanced layout aimed at professional photography. With the different camera modes, separate widget arrangements are also expected. Apple is also working on a latest Add Widgets tray that slides up from the bottom of the applications.
The advanced tray in Photo mode might include controls for depth-of-field and exposure, while widgets could be grouped under categories such as basic, manual, and settings. Users might also be able to replace controls for the timer and photo styles, while latest grid and level options are reported to be added directly into the Camera application.
Apple is also stated to be moving the control toggle from the top-right corner of the interface to a new location beside the shutter button. The redesigned Camera might also unveil dedicated Siri-powered Visual Intelligence mode.
This could help users identify objects, translate text, and use AI-based visual tools directly inside the camera interface. Apple is also working on integrating this feature along with the existing modes such as Photo and Video, by enabling quicker access to visual AI functions without opening separate applications or menus.
