Iran-US War Ceasefire News Updates Today: Tensions between the United States and Israel escalated over the 48 hours as the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said Monday that American forces had carried out strikes on missile sites and boats in southern Iran.

The development came amid an already-fragile ceasefire between the two countries, with Tehran and Washington yet to reach a formal agreement as tensions continue to surge in the region.

Without revealing further details, the US CENTCOM said the targets included missile launch sites and boats trying to “emplace mines.”

Iran Says It Fired At US Aircraft

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had fired at US aircraft allegedly attempting to venture into the Iranian airspace.

In an official statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said, “The US terrorist army, continuing its illegal and unjustified actions since the ceasefire… has, in the past 48 hours, committed a gross violation of the ceasefire in the Hormozgan region”.

Intensifying its rhetoric against the US, it warned that it will not “leave any evil unanswered and will not hesitate to defend the Iranian nation”.

Trump, Netanyahu Hold Talks

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump held a crucial telephonic conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, days after the latter vowed to “crush” Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Iran has stayed adamant in its demand to include the infighting Beirut in ceasefire.

The recent tensions in the region threatened the ceasefire that began on April 8 after over a month of war in West Asia that shook the global economy, disrupting energy flows across the world.
