Regular home meals support better digestion, stable energy levels, and even mental well-being. Eating food cooked with care, at regular times, creates structure. It slows people down. It connects families.
That rhythm itself is seen as healthy."Most people think that homemade dishes are the best for their health, compared to other options. This is true under some conditions, as cooking meals at home allows one to have control over what goes in the dish, portioning of the food, and cleanliness of the food. Most of the time, one's homemade meal will contain fresher foods and fewer processed items along with less preservative material than foods purchased at a restaurant or prepackaged food.
By having control over these products, one will be able to decrease their average sodium consumption, added-sugar consumption, and trans-fat consumption through the consumption of homemade food compared to other sources. Thus, in general, eating homemade meals will have a more positive impact on a person's long-term health," Dr. Santosh Kumar Agrawal, Director, Internal Medicine, Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital Faridabad told TOI Health.

Some common food preparation methods that produce high-calorie meals are using large amounts of oil, butter, or ghee; deep-frying; and reheating food multiple times. Consuming large amounts of foods high in refined carbohydrates like white rice or maida (regular flour) which have little protein, vegetables, and fiber can add nutritional imbalances to your diet.

The best way to achieve a healthy homemade diet is to eat meals that consist of whole grains, fruits, legumes, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. In contrast, omitting some of the nutrients from your meals will reduce the health benefit of your homemade diet," the expert adds.
