Is Ranbir Kapoor the next 'Dhoom' villain after Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan? Here’s what we know

Ranbir Kapoor remains one of the most in-demand stars in Hindi cinema, juggling back-to-back shoots and big-ticket franchises. Yet, for nearly two years, another project has dominated online chatter.

Fans continue to speculate about 'Dhoom 4', with many believing that Ranbir could headline the next chapter as the primary antagonist.

Why 'Dhoom 4' is still on hold

A fresh report has clarified that Ranbir’s casting is far from confirmed. According to Bollywood Hungama, the idea currently exists only on paper, primarily because there is no final script in place. A source revealed, “Yash Raj doesn’t have a script for Dhoom 4. They have been brainstorming over it for thirteen years, ever since Dhoom 3 was released. Aditya Chopra has rejected over nine drafts of the script. He isn’t venturing into his banner’s most prestigious franchise until he is absolutely certain about the script — not after War 2 and Mardaani 3.”

The studio, the source added, is keen to protect the legacy of the franchise.

Ranbir Kapoor’s current focus

At present, Ranbir has little room for new commitments. He is completing Love & War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and wrapping up Ramayana: Part 1 under the direction of

Nitesh Tiwari

. Animal Park and Ramayana: Part 2 are next in line. The source further said, “Right now, he’s focusing entirely on Sanjay Bhansali’s Love & War and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. His last experience with Yash Raj, Shamshera, was a colossal disaster.

He will only tread with utmost caution on that front.”

What happens to the legacy characters?

Earlier rumours suggested that Abhishek Bachchan might step aside from his iconic cop role. Reports even linked

Vicky Kaushal

as a potential replacement. However, nothing has been confirmed so far, as everything hinges on the script. Until then, audiences will see Ranbir and Vicky share screen space in Love & War this year, alongside Alia Bhatt.
