Jackie Shroff grateful to Farah Khan for 'Happy New Year'; Calls it his best look ever

Jackie Shroff, who played the villain in the film, recently expressed heartfelt thanks to filmmaker Farah Khan.

He credited her for casting him in 'Happy New Year' and giving him his best on-screen look. The moment happened while Farah was shooting a vlog at Krishna Shroff’s house in Mumbai. The 'Hero' actor spoke openly about his experience working with her and also gave some advice to his daughter during the conversation.

Jackie Shroff was very appreciative of Farah Khan’s decision to cast him as he felt she presented him in the best possible way on screen.The actor told Farah, "I have to thank you for casting me on Happy New Year. You made me look so beautiful on screen. No filmmaker has been able to do that before."

During the same vlog shoot, Jackie encouraged his daughter Krishna Shroff. He asked her to make the most of the opportunity and learn as much as possible from Farah Khan.

He wanted Krishna to observe how a big film is made. The father-daughter moment added a personal and sweet touch to the interaction.

About the film 'Happy New Year'

'Happy New Year' released in 2014 and was directed by Farah Khan. It had a big ensemble cast including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Boman Irani. Jackie Shroff played the suave antagonist Charan Grover. The story followed a group of people who enter an international dance competition as part of a heist plan.

Songs like 'Indiawaale', 'Manwa Laage' and 'Lovely' became major chartbusters.In a recent conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Farah shared an interesting story about the song from Main Hoon Na. She said, “I did not understand the meaning of this song because Gulzar sahab had written some difficult words in it. You will not believe that I had to call Javed Akhtar to ask him to translate Gulzar’s lyrics for me. On top of that Mani Ratnam did not know Hindi, the cameraman didn’t know Hindi, AR Rahman (the composer) didn’t know Hindi.

So from Ladakh, I was calling Javed uncle to understand the lyrics of the song. Javed Uncle asked, ‘Yeh kya likha hai? Yeh kisne likha hai? (Who has written this?).”She also revealed that years later for 'Dard-E-Disco' in 'Om Shanti Om', she asked Javed Akhtar to write a nonsensical song in Gulzar’s style. “After that, when we were doing ‘Dard-E-Disco’, I told Javed uncle that I want a nonsensical song, but I want it in Gulzar sahab’s way. In 5 minutes, Javed uncle wrote that song.”Farah Khan made her directorial debut with Main Hoon Na. She later delivered big hits like 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Happy New Year'.
