Fresh investigative findings into the chilling murder of 45-year-old court clerk Neeraj Sharma have exposed a prior failed assassination attempt and a multi-crore land incentive that fuelled the conspiracy. The Jaipur Police revealed that the victim’s 23-year-old daughter, Ayushi Sharma, had promised to sign over five bighas of highly valuable ancestral land along the Agra Highway to her paternal uncle and cousin in exchange for executing the murder.

The plot, which ended with Neeraj being mowed down by a Scorpio SUV travelling at 130 km/h in Pratap Nagar, was initially staged as a hit-and-run. However, detailed interrogations have laid bare the calculated steps taken by the family after a botched first attempt.

The Failed First Hit and CCTV Installation

The fatal collision on July 3 was not the first time the conspirators targeted Neeraj. Police officials confirmed that an earlier attempt had been engineered right outside the victim’s residence using a rented Mahindra Thar.

  • The Escape: Neeraj narrowly managed to evade the speeding vehicle during the initial ambush.
  • The Aftermath: Though she did not suspect her daughter at the time, the close encounter made Neeraj highly anxious about her safety. She immediately had security cameras installed around her house to monitor outside movements.
  • The Counter-Strategy: Realising that the newly installed home cameras would capture any subsequent attempts near the house, Ayushi and her co-conspirators changed tactics, shifting their strike zone to a wide public road farther away.

A Disabled Son’s Future vs Real Estate Greed

The investigation has also shed light on the bitter domestic choices that preceded the crime. Following the death of the family patriarch, Vijay Kumar Sharma—an LDC clerk at the Rajasthan High Court—family elders advised Neeraj to take up the compassionate government appointment. This decision was explicitly made to secure the financial future and upkeep of her 16-year-old differently-abled son.

Ayushi, deeply resentful of being denied the government post, left her mother’s house to live with her paternal uncle, Mohan Swaroop. Seizing upon her rage, Swaroop and his absconding son, Balram, allegedly manipulated Ayushi to claim the deceased clerk’s real estate assets. Ayushi incentivised her relatives by offering them a massive share of the lucrative Agra Highway land once her mother was removed from the picture.

The Final Traitorous Lure

On the afternoon of the murder, the conspirators deployed a coordinated network of lookouts. Neeraj had just dropped her disabled son off at a local coaching centre when Ayushi phoned her, manufacturing a false domestic emergency to lure her mother back home immediately.

As Neeraj walked briskly down the designated route, spotters on motorcycles signalled the contract killers stationed in the Scorpio. The vehicle accelerated to maximum speed, hitting Neeraj from behind and flinging her nearly 100 feet. While the daughter initially attempted to play the grieving relative, forensic digital footprints and the uncle’s detailed text exchanges blown open by a family complaint completely shattered the cover-up.
