External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday met UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He expressed gratitude on behalf of India and conveyed greetings from PM Modi. EAM expressed New Delhi’s gratitude for the Gulf nation’s support to the nearly 3.5 million-strong Indian diaspora during West Asia conflict.
India has stepped up its diplomatic outreach in West Asia, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visiting the United Arab Emirates shortly after the announcement of a temporary ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
The outreach comes at a time of shifting regional dynamics, with Pakistan simultaneously strengthening its engagement with Saudi Arabia, including renewed focus on defence cooperation.
According to the sources, UAE did not welcome the ‘ceasefire.’
In a post on X, Jaishankar wrote, “Deeply honoured to call on President of UAE HH @MohamedBinZayed in Abu Dhabi today. Conveyed warm greetings of Prime Minister

Jaishankar is currently on an official visit to the UAE, where he has held a series of high-level meetings with the country’s top leadership. His engagements included talks with President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, and UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The visit takes place against the backdrop of an intense and ongoing conflict in West Asia, a region where India has substantial strategic and economic interests.
Emphasising New Delhi’s concern, Jaishankar noted that India has “major stakes" in the stability and security of the region, signalling that developments there remain a key focus of India’s foreign policy engagement with the UAE.
