Indian Railways has issued an official clarification on a viral video showing a First AC coupe decorated with balloons, flowers and rose petals for a newly married couple on the Nandigram Express. The railways confirmed the decoration was unauthorised, suspended the ticket examiner on duty, and booked the decorator under the Railway Act.

The video showed the couple’s coupe on Train No. 11002 transformed with heart-shaped decor, red-and-white balloons, floral garlands and rose petals scattered across the berth, after a decoration team allegedly entered the coach at Jalna station without permission.

The clip, shared by an event decoration company, quickly went viral, prompting railway authorities to launch a formal probe into how outsiders gained access to the coach.

Indian Railways clarified that a couple travelling on Train No. 11002 Nandigram Express on June 7, 2026, had privately hired a decorator online to decorate their First AC coupe.

The concerned staff member on duty, identified as chief ticket inspector Girish Kumar, has been placed under suspension with immediate effect.
