Sinner confirms Madrid Open return after his Monte Carlo win, chasing a fifth straight Masters title ahead of Roland Garros.

It’s one thing to reach the summit. Staying there is the real test. And right now, Jannik Sinner isn’t backing down from either.
Fresh off his Monte Carlo triumph, the newly crowned World No. 1 has confirmed his participation at the Madrid Open, putting to rest doubts around his clay-court schedule heading into the business end of the season.
Sinner’s decision comes hot on the heels of a statement win over Carlos Alcaraz in the Monte Carlo final, a victory that not only handed him his fourth straight Masters title but also the top ranking.
With Alcaraz withdrawing from Madrid due to a wrist injury, the door is now wide open for Sinner to extend his lead at the top and further stamp his authority on the tour.
But this isn’t just about rankings. Madrid offers Sinner a shot at one of the few ATP Masters 1000 titles missing from his resume. And not to forget, potentially a slice of history too.
Chasing History
Sinner is currently riding a four-title streak at the Masters 1000 level — a run that includes the Paris Open, the coveted Indian Wells and Miami Open titles (completing the famed Sunshine Double), followed by Monte Carlo.
Another win in Madrid would make it five straight, a rare feat achieved by none yet.

The Madrid tournament kicks off on April 21, with Casper Ruud returning as the defending men’s champion.
Roland Garros Prep Intensifies
Beyond the immediate stakes, Madrid is a key stop in a tightly packed clay swing. Sinner is expected to follow it up with the Italian Open, where he reached the final in 2025.
Together, these events play a crucial role in shaping seedings and momentum ahead of the French Open — whose crown rests with his rival Alcaraz currently.
