Jannik Sinner isn’t just warming up for clay season. Rather, he’s setting it on fire.
The World No. 1 kicked off his Madrid Open campaign with a well-fought three-set win over Benjamin Bonzi, stretching his Masters 1000 winning streak to 23 matches.
That matches the legendary run of Rafael Nadal, the undisputed King of Clay.
Sinner’s streak now places him third on the all-time list, behind only Roger Federer (29) and Novak Djokovic (31).
Players With Most Consecutive Wins At Masters 1000
- Novak Djokovic – 31 wins
- Roger Federer – 29 wins
- Jannik Sinner – 23 wins
- Rafael Nadal – 23 wins
The Italian currently riding a four-title tear at Masters 1000 level: Paris Masters, Indian Wells Open, Miami Open (completing the Sunshine Double), and Monte Carlo Masters.
One more in Madrid? That’s five in a row — something no player has ever achieved.
A Golden Window Opens
Madrid is just the beginning of a crucial clay stretch. Up next is the Italian Open, where Sinner was a finalist last year, before all roads lead to the French Open.
And here’s where things get interesting, because defending champion and Sinner’s biggest rival, Carlos Alcaraz, is out with a wrist injury.
With Alcaraz sidelined, Sinner has a clear path to chase the one major missing from his cabinet and claim his very own Career Grand Slam.
When the French Open begins on May 24, the men’s field will feel different. For the first time since 2023, there’s a real chance we see a Grand Slam champion outside the Sinner-Alcaraz duopoly.
But given how the Italian has been taking it to the court, it wouldn’t be a bad call to bet one’s money on him.
