Jewellery theft ring busted: Two men arrested for stealing jewellery in Ranchi; Police continue hunt for remaining gang members

Ranchi: Two men were arrested from different areas of the state capital for allegedly stealing jewellery and other valuables from homes. Around 200 grams of stolen gold and silver ornaments were also seized from their possession.Ranchi SP (Rural) Praveen Pushkar on Saturday said Firdaus Ali, who used to steal from houses, was arrested from Namkum while jeweller Dilip Soni, who used to purchase the stolen items, was held from Lalpur on Friday.The duo was held by a special investigation team using human and technical inputs.“The gang comprising of around five members used to carry out a surveillance of houses for two to three days to ensure they do not have inmates. After the theft, they used to sell the jewellery to Dilip who has a shop in Kantatoli. He melted them to make new jewellery. Operations are on to arrest other members of the gang,” Pushkar added.
