Jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh looted from shop in Saran

Armed robbers made off with Rs20 lakh in gold and silver from a jewellery shop in Saran district's Manjhi police station area on Sunday. Six masked individuals on two motorcycles stormed the shop, brandishing firearms and firing shots to instill fear.

Patna: Armed robbers stormed a jewellery shop in Saran district on Sunday and looted Rs20 lakh worth of gold and silver ornaments at gunpoint.The incident took place at Mohammadpur Bazar in Manjhi police station area.

The robbers also fired in the air while fleeing to create panic in the area, said police.The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras. The police team reached the spot and started an investigation.According to the police, six masked robbers arrived on two motorcycles, overpowered the shopowner and customers with firearms. They threatened to shoot if anyone intervened and swiftly looted the jewellery shop. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, which showed three robbers entering the shop while two others waited outside and one stood near a bike.Shop operator Brij Bihari Gupta said, “Some customers came to the shop and I was showing them jewellery. Meanwhile, six criminals came from the north direction and carried out the robbery at gunpoint. They fired shots to spread terror, which created chaos in the market.”Sadar SDPO Rajkumar said, “Police are identifying the criminals based on CCTV footage. After the robbery, all the criminals fled towards the north direction while firing. Raids are being carried to arrest the criminals.”
