Jharkhand Police Association Denies Misconduct Allegations Against SC-ST Police Station OC

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Police Association (JPA) on Sunday termed the claim made by the advocates that the officer in-charge (OC) of the SC)-ST police station, Mahesh Munda, allegedly misbehaved with two women advocates as baseless.A female advocate, Sabina Kujur, lodged a complaint with Ranchi district bar assoication (RDBA) secretary Sanjay Kumar Vidrohi, alleging that she, along with her colleague Soni Lakra, had visited the SC-ST police station on Thursday to register a case. She alleged that Munda shouted at them and used abusive language. Munda also caught her hand and forced her out, Sabina dded.JPA’s state president Rahul Kumar Murmu claimed that the women advocates were trying to apply pressure on Munda to register an FIR on a complaint, which, during preliminary investigation, was found false.Murmu further claimed that the allegations by the advocates that Munda pulled one of them out of his office were wrong, as two women constables — Sangeeta and Ritu — were present on the spot, and they were asked to take the advocates out of the office. He said that the advocates demonstrated in front of the SC-ST Police Station on Friday and Saturday to apply undue pressure on police. The RDBA should hold an inquiry into the incident and come out with a view. Closed-circuit television camera footage from outside the in-charge’s office can be provided to reveal the reality, he added. The RDBA members abstained from court work on Friday and wore black badges on Saturday, demanding action against Munda.
