New Delhi: JioStar says it reached nearly a billion screens through its sports portfolio in FY 2025-26, with the broadcaster and streaming platform recording significant audience growth across cricket and other major sporting properties.According to the Reliance Industries' FY26 Annual Report, the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 final delivered a peak concurrency of 72.5 million streams on JioHotstar, which it described as a global record for live sports streaming. The tournament reached 956 million viewers across television and digital platforms combined.
The milestone underlines the continued ability of live sport to attract mass simultaneous audiences at a time when much of media consumption is increasingly on-demand. JioStar cited the record concurrency as evidence of sport's role in driving digital adoption, advertiser interest and investment in streaming infrastructure.Cricket remained the primary growth engine for the company during the year. The IPL 2025 final, where Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their maiden title, attracted 426 million viewers, while a digital audience of 237 million live viewers was recorded for the T20 match.
JioStar also noted a shift in audience demographics, with women accounting for 47 per cent of IPL viewership on Star Sports.Women's cricket also delivered significant gains. The Women's World Cup, which was played in India, recorded a ten-fold increase in digital viewership compared to the previous edition, while the final attracted 185 million viewers.JioStar said the figures placed the tournament on par with some of the biggest IPL fixtures and reflected the growing mainstream appeal of women's cricket.The momentum carried into IPL 2026, where the opening weekend alone reached more than 515 million viewers across television and digital platforms.Beyond cricket, JioStar reported growth in engagement across other sports properties including Wimbledon, the US Open and the Pro Kabaddi League, strengthening its position as a year-round sports destination.The sports performance formed part of a broader growth story for the company.
JioStar reported revenue from operations of Rs 34,917 crore in FY 2025-26, up from Rs 17,762 crore in the previous year, while EBITDA rose to Rs 5,842 crore from Rs 1,833 crore. EBITDA margin improved from 10.3 per cent to 16.7 per cent.The company said its digital platform averaged 451 million monthly active users during the financial year, a 48 per cent increase year-on-year.It also reported more than one billion app downloads on Google Play and over 11 billion interactions across platform features.
