Jisshu Sengupta and his daughter Sara Sengupta
Bengali star Jisshu Sengupta’s elder daughter, Sara, is making her mark in the fashion world. She made a stunning debut on the ramp at Dior’s Fall 2023 show in Mumbai. Unlike many star kids who often follow the film route, Sara is determined to carve out her own path.
Her proud father shares, “Sara received a few Hindi film offers. However, she doesn’t want to do films. She wants to focus on modeling. She made her debut with Dior and she did it all by herself. Young kids these days are quite focused and they know what they want.”‘Sara would rather stick to modeling’Speaking about the 20-year-old’s decision to avoid films, Jisshu says, “We did a film together called Uma. She was 12 then, and after that she felt films are not her cup of tea.
She got a lot of praise, but didn’t enjoy being around so many people or visiting places (during promotions). She said she’d rather stick to modeling.”‘In terms of business Bengali films have a long way to go’As an actor and producer, he hopes to expand the reach of Bengali cinema. Reflecting on its current position, he says, “We are winning National Awards at least one every year. But, in terms of business we have a long way to go. We have got lesser halls than even Marathi films or even Punjabi films in that sense. Bengali films only release in Bengal. We have to work on our content. We need to improve and push ourselves.” He adds, “I have a dream that one day we will make a film in 3 languages — in Bengali and release it in Telugu and in Hindi as well.
We will get there. One baby step at a time.”
