There is no smoke without fire, and Jose Mourinho finally admitted as much.
After weeks of speculation linking him with a sensational return to Real Madrid, the Portuguese manager confirmed that contact has indeed been made between Los Blancos and his camp.

“There is something," Mourinho admitted while speaking to the media after Benfica’s latest outing.
“My future should be decided this week. I have a proposal from Benfica. I don’t have a proposal from Real Madrid. But at the same time, we cannot hide that there is something happening."
The former Real Madrid boss revealed that discussions so far have taken place between club officials and his long-time agent Jorge Mendes, rather than directly with him.
“So far, there have only been talks between Real Madrid and Jorge Mendes, not with me," Mourinho clarified.
“But none of us are naive, and there are conversations between Jorge, the president, and the club’s management."
Real’s Chaotic Season
Real Madrid are coming off another turbulent season filled with dressing-room tensions, underwhelming results, and mounting pressure on the hierarchy after yet another trophyless campaign.
Reports in Spain suggest Mourinho has now surged ahead of rival candidates like Mauricio Pochettino and Didier Deschamps, with club president Florentino Perez increasingly convinced that only the ‘Special One’ can restore order at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Nothing Agreed Yet, Says Jose
Mourinho, however, stopped short of confirming any deal.
“I will personally speak to Real Madrid next week, and I’ll make my decision then," he said.
For now, the 63-year-old insists he remains committed to Benfica, where he has enjoyed an impressive season and reportedly received a lucrative renewal offer.
“I was happy every day at Benfica," Mourinho said. “There’s a 99 percent chance I’ll stay because I have a contract and a renewal offer that my agent says is excellent."
Still, his comments have only added fuel to the fire.
When asked directly about Madrid, Mourinho smiled and replied: “I want Real Madrid to win their game tomorrow. That’s all I have to say."
