Tamil Nadu Election 2026: The 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election has delivered a historic “political blockbuster." With counting in its final stages today, “Thalapathy" Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has emerged as the single largest party, disrupting the state’s 50-year Dravidian duopoly.

As political leaders scramble to finalise numbers, social media has found a lighthearted “Cold War" coincidence in the potential alliance math.

The internet is currently buzzing with a viral meme about the possibility of “Joseph" and “Stalin" joining forces. The joke stems from the full names of the two main protagonists in this hung-verdict drama: Vijay, whose full name is Chandrasekaran Joseph Vijay, and M K Stalin, who was famously named by his father Karunanidhi after the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin.

A X user wrote: “If Joseph (Vijay) and Stalin (M.K.) go for a tie-up, Tamil Nadu won’t just be a state; it will be ruled by Russia. Joseph + Stalin = Joseph Stalin."

While the pun is providing comic relief, the political reality is far more tense. During his campaign, Vijay explicitly labelled the DMK as his “political enemy," making any real-world “Joseph-Stalin" pact the most unexpected plot twist in Tamil Nadu’s history.

Another user, Ramesh Srivats, posted a “Tamil Nadu election update" with a Russian View.

2026 Tamil Nadu Election Results

The TVK has scripted history, leading in 111 seats as of the latest trends, while the DMK and AIADMK alliances are currently trailing with tallies between 59 and 44 seats.

Unless a significant shift occurs in the final rounds of counting, Vijay may still fall short of the majority mark and require additional numbers to form the government in Tamil Nadu. There is a high possibility of him joining hands with the Congress and other smaller parties to bridge the gap. Alternatively, he may seek the support of the AIADMK, potentially on the condition of a pact that excludes the BJP.
