Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi and BJP MP and former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar met the family of victim of Love Jihad in Hubballi at different times on Tuesday and consoled them.
Speaking to presspersons later, Mr. Joshi said that he has already spoken to the Police Commissioner asking him to investigate the case thoroughly as it appears to be work of a systematic network involved in Love Jihad.
He said that two young girls have been meted out injustice and all the guilty should be brought to book.
On the issue of old video clippings pertaining to victims of Love Jihad, the Union Minister said that any attempt to indulge in vote bank politics will be opposed strongly and the BJP will take to the streets.
He also questioned the rationale behind registering a case against Hindutva activists who caught the accused, Sameer Mulla, and handed him over to the police.
Earlier in the day, Jagadish Shettar visited the victim’s family and assured them of him standing with them till justice is delivered.
Meanwhile, members of Hindutva outfits submitted a memorandum to the Police Commissioner seeking withdrawal of the case against Hindutva activists who handed over the accused to the police.
