After a passenger was bitten by a snake at Cherthala railway station, K.C. Venugopal, MP, has urged railway authorities to take immediate action to ensure a safe environment for passengers.

“With the onset of the monsoon, overgrown vegetation around railway stations has led to an increase in the presence of reptiles, posing a serious threat to passenger safety. Recently, a passenger was bitten by a snake at the Cherthala railway station. The surroundings of most stations along the coastal route are overrun with wild growth,” Mr. Venugopal said in a letter to the Railway Divisional Manager.

He called for urgent cleaning operations at all railway stations and their premises within the Alappuzha Parliament constituency.

Mr. Venugopal also highlighted the need to address the serious stray dog menace at railway stations. “It is the responsibility of the Railways to ensure smooth and safe travel facilities for passengers,” he added.
