Kalaburagi police hold rowdy parade, warn offenders

Kalaburagi: A rowdy parade involving rowdy-sheeters from various police station jurisdictions was conducted under the leadership of Kalaburagi City police commissioner Sharanappa SD as part of efforts to maintain law and order and curb anti-social activities in the city.During the parade held at the DAR Grounds in Kalaburagi on Thursday, the police commissioner reviewed the criminal cases registered against the rowdy-sheeters and issued a stern warning against engaging in any illegal activities.Speaking to reporters later, Sharanappa said police are maintaining constant surveillance on rowdy-sheeters to curb crime in the city. To strengthen these efforts, Anti-Rowdy Squads have been formed in the jurisdiction of every police station.

He said rowdy-sheeters who fail to appear before courts or respond to police notices have been identified and will face legal action. The top 10 rowdy-sheeters from each police station were present at the parade.He said seven rowdy-sheeters have so far been detained under the Goonda Act, while 21 habitual offenders have been externed from the city. Stringent action, including detention under the Goonda Act and externment proceedings against those involved in anti-social activities, will continue, he added.

The police commissioner warned that maintaining peace, public order and safety remains the primary responsibility of the police department and that strict action would be taken against anyone who violates the law or returns to criminal activities.
