The Kalaburagi Rangayana will organise a month-long summer theatre workshop for children titled ‘Makkala Habba-2026’ from April 7 to May 8 on its campus in the city.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday (March 14), Rangayana director Sujata Jangamshetty said the workshop aims to help children explore their creative abilities, understand theatre art, and improve their personality development.

Workshop director S.K. Rajkumar said a team of theatre artists will train participants in acting, storytelling, and clay modelling, singing, paper cutting art, and painting, besides screening short films for children. The camp will also introduce traditional art forms such as tamate, shadow puppetry, hejje mela, bayalaata, magic shows, folk songs and tatvapadas.

Participants will also be taught basic fire safety and road safety guidelines. As part of the programme, children will be taken on visits to prominent and historic places in the city. The workshop will conclude with a stage performance by the participants.

Admissions will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 150 applicants aged between five and 16 years, Dr. Jangamshetty said.

Rangayana administrative officer Siddaram Sindhe said that applicants must submit a form along with two passport-size photographs, a photocopy of the birth certificate, and an Aadhaar card at the Rangayana office before April 5.

The application fee is ₹100, and the workshop fee is ₹2,000, excluding costume expenses. Sessions will be held daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and participants are required to bring their own lunch boxes, he added.
