Madurai: The Kalaignar Centenary Library hosted a series of interactive events for children on Sunday, combining literature and traditional handicrafts to encourage learning and creativity.The first session, Nool Arumbugal, featured a book review programme in which children took to the stage to share their thoughts on books they had read. The initiative aimed to foster a love for reading while improving their public speaking skills.This was followed by a hands-on workshop on palmyra leaf handicrafts led by K Ashokkumar. Participants learnt about the different textures of palm leaves and seeds and were taught how to make handmade dolls using palmyra leaves.The programmes were open to children and the public free of cost. A library official said similar events would be organised every week to promote reading and creative learning among children.
