Kalashtami March 2026: Significance

Kalashtami is the most significant day in Hinduism. This day is purely dedicated to worship Lord Kaal Bhairav. Devotees appease him on this sacred day by observing fast and offering their sincere prayers to him.

They show their gratitude and seek his blessings. This day is very important day for performing various puja rituals associated with Kaal Bhairav. Kaal Bhairav is another manifestation of Lord Shiva and this one of the most ferocious form. People usually get scared of Kaal Bhairav due to his fierce form. He is also known as the lord of time, Ksehtrapaal, danda pani, the kotwal, who protects the Shiva temples and all the Shaktipeethas.

He is the one who can control the time, death, illusion and fear. He is the remover of all the negative energies, and spirits and give protection to the devotees.

He is mainly worshipped on Ashtami tithi and Sunday. He also controls the five bad elements - kama (lust), krodh (anger), lobha (greed), moh (attachment) and amahkara (ego) so the devotees, who worship him with devotion get rid of these bad elements. He gives salvation to the devotees who wants it.

1. Take a holy bath as soon as you wake up.2. To worship Lord Kaal Bhairav, you should first clean the house and the puja room.3. Place an idol of Kaal Bhairav, light a diya with mustard oil and offer garlands.4. Offer meetha rott and halwa5. Devotees should visit to the Bhairav Temple and present Lord Kaal Bhairav and Batuk Bhairav with milk and alcohol.6. To alleviate any sorrow, offer prayers to Kaal Bhairav in the evening as well as recite several mantras and Kaal Bhairav Ashtakam.7. Those who observe fasts can eat sattvik meals and break their fast in the evening after sunset.
