Karnataka CM News: With Siddaramaiah stepping down as Karnataka chief minister, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has called a meeting in Bengaluru today to choose its next leader. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is expected to emerge as the frontrunner for the post.
The meeting follows a round of consultations in New Delhi involving the Congress high command, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, aimed at concluding the leadership change and charting the course for the formation of the new government.
Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot accepted Siddaramaiah’s resignation and dissolved the Council of Ministers with immediate effect on Friday. However, Siddaramaiah has been asked to continue as Chief Minister until alternative arrangements are made.
