The Karnataka Muzrai Department has officially announced a strict crackdown on unauthorized filming and social media content creation within temple premises across the state, citing a surge in disruptive reels and videography that compromises religious sanctity.

Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy confirmed that the department will now mandate fees and formal permissions for all recordings at ‘A’ and ‘B’ category temples to curb the rising nuisance caused by YouTubers and social media influencers.

While regulations for the paid filming of movies, serials, and documentaries were originally established in 2003 and 2013, the state government is now moving to strictly re-enforce these protocols to ensure that any professional or commercial recording is subject to a prescribed fee.

This administrative directive aims to restore decorum and manage the influx of digital creators who have recently overwhelmed temple grounds with unauthorized video shoots, ensuring that the spiritual environment remains undisturbed for devotees.
