The Molakalmuru police have successfully apprehended six individuals in connection with the brutal murder of a labourer at a local brick kiln in Chitradurga. In a swift operation led by CPI Nagaraj and PSI Mahesh Hospete, the law enforcement team managed to solve the mystery surrounding the death of 50-year-old Obanna within just 48 hours.
The investigation revealed a chilling plot fuelled by illicit relationships and a disturbing obsession with film actor Darshan’s “D-Gang" persona and the murder of Renukaswamy in real life.
The suspects, who attempted to frame the murder as a tragic tractor accident, were identified as Boramma’s minor son, Jitendra alias Gunda, Bora, Boramma, Karibasamma, and Ajjayya.
According to police reports, the primary motive stemmed from a long-standing affair between the victim, Obanna, and one of the accused, Boramma. The situation escalated when Obanna allegedly spread rumours regarding an illicit relationship between Jitendra and Karibasamma, prompting the group to orchestrate a fatal retaliatory strike.
The case has drawn significant public attention due to the suspects’ overt glorification of criminal culture. Investigations highlighted that at least two of the accused were fans of actor Darshan, mimicking the style of the infamous “D-Gang", the euphemism used for Darshan and gang, who are accused in the Renukaswamy murder case. One lead suspect, Jitendra, had reportedly posted a threatening social media status before the crime, warning that he would “become D-Boss" if anyone interfered with the women in his circle.
Evidence of this obsession was visible throughout the arrest process. Jitendra’s motorcycle was found emblazoned with “Prisoner Number-6106 D-Gang" and “D-Boss" branding. Furthermore, both Jitendra and Ajjayya sported “D-Boss" tattoos, and Jitendra was even wearing pants marked with the actor’s moniker at the time of his detention.
The Molakalmuru police have officially registered the case, successfully dismantling the gang that thought they could evade justice by staging a hit-and-run.
