The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 begins with host Amitabh Bachchan welcoming the audience. At the time of her birth, her father was in the process of joining the Army. The moment she was born, news of his selection arrived, prompting her mother to exclaim with joy, “meri Vijay hui!” Inspired by this, her aunt suggested naming the newborn “Vijay.” She further revealed that while she initially disliked her name while growing up, her perspective changed after watching Amitabh Bachchan’s film Zanjeer.Mr. Bachchan resumed the game and asked her the question for Rs 1,00,000, but Vijay gets stuck on the answer. The very first time she was selected for the audition rounds, she won KBC merchandise, a bag with Amitabh Bachchan’s picture on it.
She placed it carefully in her cupboard and began manifesting her dream of appearing on the show.Opening up about her personal life, Vijay also narrated her love story. She revealed that while her father always wished for her to become an IAS officer, she secretly filled out a form for a bank job at the age of 18 for the position of cashier and clerk. Interestingly, her manager later transferred her to the Foreign Exchange department, where fate intervened, her future husband walked in to open an account for his first Army salary.

(There is a very interesting story behind the lantern scene in Sholay featuring Jaya. Our cameraman wanted the lighting to fall perfectly on her, and that effect would only come during sunset. But every time we went to shoot, the sun would set too quickly and the moment was gone. He would insist, ‘No, I want only this particular shot.’ It took almost three years of waiting to finally capture that one scene.)
