Kerala Assembly polls 2026: Brisk polling in Kottayam, Pathanamthitta districts

The Assembly elections on Thursday witnessed a closely contested battle between the United Democratic Front (UDF), the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the National Democratic Alliance across the 14 Assembly segments of Kottayam and Pathanamthitta districts, with both districts recording a noticeable improvement in voter turnout.

As per the provisional estimates, Kottayam recorded a polling percentage of 74.32%, up from 72.13% in 2021. While this reflects nearly a two percent increase from the last elections, it remains slightly below the 76.90% turnout recorded in 2016.
