The Advocate General (AG) has informed the Kerala High Court that the State has decided to grant sanction to the CBI for prosecution in connection with the alleged irregularities in the import of raw cashew by the Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation (KSCDC).

The sanction will be granted to prosecute INTUC State president and former KSCDC chairperson R. Chandrasekharan and former managing director K.A. Ratheesh in the alleged misappropriation to the tune of ₹600 crore in the import of raw cashew between 2006 and 2015.

Advocate General K. Jaju Babu informed a Single Bench of Justice A. Badharudeen that he, however, would need to verify the order granting sanction to ensure its accuracy.

The court has granted time till June 8 when the matter will be considered further.
