BJP leader Vanathi Srinivasan, on Thursday (July 2, 2026), objected to a reported incident in Tenkasi district during which a TVK partyman allegedly flagged off a bus in a new route between Pavoorchatram and Ambasamudram recently. She urged the Tamil Nadu government to issue specific guidelines in this regard.

Referring to the incident in Tenkasi district, Ms. Srinivasan said: “When there are elected representatives and government officials, it is against the democratic ideals for ruling party functionaries to discharge government functions. After the School Education Department, now the intervention of the TVK partymen has come into the Transport Department too. It erodes the government machinery.”

Ms. Srinivasan further questioned as to how party functionaries could unauthorisedly implement government programmes. “If this continues, the entire government machinery would go into the control of the TVK. So, I urge the Tamil Nadu government to stop such anti-democratic actions and issue guidelines so that only elected representatives and government officials implement the government programmes.”
