Retired SI arrested under POCSO Act for sexually assaulting minor girl in Kerala

A retired sub-inspector (SI) has been arrested by the Pariyaram police in Kannur, Kerala, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl. The accused is E. Gopinathan (62).

The incident came to light on Wednesday afternoon after the 11-year-old girl reportedly fell ill upon returning home and disclosed the details to her mother.

According to the police, the accused lured the child, took her to his house and sexually assaulted her. The girl’s statement was recorded and a case was registered under the POCSO Act.
