Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan shifted to his official residence, Cliff House, in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday after renovation works at the premises were completed, officials said.

Mr. Satheesan had been staying at Cantonment House, the official residence of the Leader of the Opposition, while maintenance work was being carried out at Cliff House.

He shifted to Cliff House at around 6 am, officials said.

The media was not permitted to cover the Chief Minister’s change of residence.

Cantonment House had served as Mr. Satheesan’s official residence when he was the Leader of the Opposition during the previous LDF government.

The current Leader of the Opposition, Pinarayi Vijayan, is expected to move into Cantonment House after maintenance work there is completed.

Mr. Vijayan, who served as Chief Minister in the previous LDF government, vacated Cliff House soon after the Assembly election results were announced.

He is currently staying at a rented accommodation at Bakery Junction in Thiruvananthapuram.

Mr. Vijayan had recently referred to the delay in vacating Cantonment House during his interactions with the media.
