The Kerala Congress (M), a key ally of the Left Democratic Front (LDF), on Tuesday firmly rejected reports suggesting its possible return to the United Democratic Front (UDF).
In a statement, party chairman Jose K. Mani clarified that the KC(M) remains an integral part of the LDF and is committed to strengthening the alliance both politically and at the grassroots.
“Certain quarters are continuously spreading fake news to prop up the UDF, which is currently caught in internal conflicts over leadership. Meanwhile, efforts are in full swing across our party units to ensure a proud victory for the LDF in the upcoming local body and Assembly elections,” he said.
Mr. Mani said the State government, following the intervention of the KC(M), had formulated a special action plan to address the pressing issues faced by farmers in Kerala’s high-range regions. He urged the Opposition to join hands with the State government in raising a collective voice against increasing incidents of wildlife attacks.
In this context, he reiterated the party’s demand to convene a special session of the Assembly.
“Linking KC(M)’s sincere concerns about the high-range issues with coalition politics is nothing but petty political opportunism, which the party outrightly rejects,” the statement said.
“The LDF is moving ahead with renewed strength to secure a third consecutive term in Kerala. Those hoping for a shift in KC(M)’s political stance would do well to abandon such illusions,” it added.
