Thrissur: Motor vehicle department (MVD) officials on Thursday suspended the licence of the private bus conductor who had blocked students from boarding the bus at Wadakkanchery. The officials said his licence was suspended for three months. The conductor, Ramadas from Mangalam near Wadakkanchery, has also been directed to undergo training for five days at the motor vehicle departments’ Institute of Driver Training and Research (IDTR), Edappal. Ramadas appeared before the joint RTO S Sreejith to give an explanation on Thursday morning, as directed by the MVD.Sreejith said the decision to suspend the licence was taken as the explanation submitted by him was not satisfactory.Police have, however, dropped further actions against the conductor as the students and parents informed that they are not keen on pursuing their complaints. They had earlier registered a petty case against the conductor and slapped a fine. The students had complained that the conductor did not permit them to board the bus even after telling him that they would travel standing. The video of one of the students pleading with the conductor with folded hands to let them enter the bus had gone viral. However, the students later said they only want the assurance that they will be able to head home as soon as the school classes are over, and are not keen on getting a person ousted from his job, Wadakkanchery SHO Muraleedharan said.
