PALAKKAD: Congress MP Sha-fi Parambil alleged that BJP’s reported attempt to distribute money to voters in Palakkad shows that the party cannot win the constituency through fair means. He said this move is an open admission of BJP’s expected defeat.
“Palakkad will reject BJP and its money. The people here will never sell their self-respect for cash,” he said. The MP demanded immediate action by Election Commission, including the possible disqualification of the BJP candidate.Parambil asserted that Palakkad is not a constituency where voters can be bought or manipulated like in north India. He said the people of Palakkad choose representatives based on political conviction and emotional connection, not money.
“You cannot buy the voters of Palakkad. They support candidates for the politics they represent and the love they share with the people,” he said.He accused BJP of undermining election norms, democratic values and public dignity, despite being the party in power at the Centre. Parambil alleged that BJP workers distributed money during home visits, believing they could win the elections through such tactics. “That itself proves BJP knows it cannot win through honest politics.
It has accepted defeat,” he said.He also questioned PM Narendra Modi’s campaign visit. “If PM’s visit was enough to win the poll, then why is there a need to distribute money at people’s doorsteps?” Parambil asked. He said the alleged cash distribution shows that BJP realized PM’s campaign failed to make an impact.
