Kakinada Gateway Port Limited (KGPL), a subsidiary of the Auro Group, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sravan Shipping Services Private Limited for a proposed liquid storage tank farm facility at the Kona port in Kakinada Special Economic Zone (KSEZ).
Ram Reddy Ojili, Managing Director & CEO of Kakinada Gateway Port Limited and Mr. Sambasiva Rao, Managing Director of Sravan Shipping Services Pvt. Ltd signed the MoU.
“This strategic partnership aligns with KGPL’s long-term vision of developing a world-class integrated port ecosystem capable of supporting diverse industries and evolving global trade requirements”, said Mr. Ram Reddy in an official release.
The proposed infrastructure will facilitate the handling and storage of various liquid cargo, including chemicals, solvents, petrochemical products, and allied commodities. Sravan Shipping Services Private Limited is likely to develop multiple liquid storage tank farms at KGPL, with an estimated cargo handling up to one million tonnes per annum.
In turn, the KGPL will have to hand over the land required on a lease basis and develop a dedicated liquid berth with a draft ranging between 14 and 18 metres to support efficient marine operations.
The initiative is expected to significantly enhance liquid cargo infrastructure in the region, strengthen supply chain capabilities, generate employment opportunities, attract industrial investments, and contribute to the economic growth of Andhra Pradesh.
“Kakinada Gateway Port continues to strengthen its position as a strategic hub for bulk, breakbulk, liquid, LNG, LPG, and offshore cargo operations”, said Mr. Ram Reddy.
