Faisal Khan and two guards named in FIR over firing and vandalism incident outside Khan Global Studies Institute in Patna
Faisal Khan, popularly known as “Khan Sir”, and two of his private security guards have been named in an FIR in connection with a firing and vandalism incident outside his Patna coaching centre on June 2, police said on Friday. The development comes days after a group of 15-20 people allegedly vandalised the Khan Global Studies Institute and pelted stones at its premises earlier this week.
According to sources, the two bodyguards detained earlier in connection with the firing incident told police during interrogation that they had opened fire on the instructions of “Khan Sir”. They alleged that the firing was ordered after a physical assault incident outside the coaching centre, when the situation escalated and a crowd gathered.
The two guards, identified as Pradeep Kumar (38) and Talebar Singh (34), both hailing from Uttar Pradesh, were reportedly hired through a Noida-based security agency.
During questioning, they told police that they fired two rounds each from their licensed .315-bore rifles after being instructed to do so. They further stated that Khan Sir was present at the spot when the incident occurred.
Police officials said the weapons used in the alleged firing have been seized and sent for forensic examination. The guards were formally arrested after questioning and produced their arms licences during interrogation.
The viral video of the firing incident, which circulated widely on social media, prompted police verification and subsequent detention of the guards.
Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma said Khan Sir has been named in the FIR and will be questioned as part of the ongoing investigation. He, however, did not specify the exact charges against him.
Following the vandalism incident, Khan Sir had earlier alleged that individuals from a rival coaching institute were behind the attack, though he later said only a police investigation could establish the facts.
Meanwhile, members of a rival institute have accused him of staging the incident, further escalating the controversy.
