US-Israel-Iran War News Today Latest Updates: US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the United States and Iran could sign a peace agreement as early as this weekend, a move that could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping.
Trump said that the documents related to a “great settlement” were in near-final form, claimed Iran had agreed in principle to abandon any pursuit of nuclear weapons and suggested a signing ceremony could take place within days.
However, Iran sought to cool expectations of an imminent agreement with the United States, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei saying that negotiations remain unresolved despite repeated claims from Trump.

Speaking by phone on Iranian state television, Esmail Baghaei described reports of a completed agreement as speculative and stressed that Tehran has not yet reached a final decision on any proposed deal.
