Kanpur: Police teams from Kanpur will soon be dispatched to the National Capital Region (NCR) to trace six absconding accused linked to the kidney transplant racket case.According to senior police officials, two separate teams of the Commissionerate Police will conduct raids in coordination with NCR police authorities to arrest the accused.
The absconding accused have been identified as Dr Afzal, Dr Vaibhav, Dr Kaif, Dr Anurag, Naveen Pandey and Shivam Yadav.Officials said the accused frequently travelled by air and had reportedly also used routes through Lucknow to reach Kanpur. Police have also received information that some of them stayed at hotels in the Harbanshmohaal and Kotwali areas.The case came to light after a kidney transplant procedure allegedly linked to the racket was conducted on March 29 at Ahuja Hospital in Keshavpuram.
According to police, Parul Tomar underwent a kidney transplant using the kidney of Ayush.Following the incident, Rawatpur police registered an FIR and arrested several accused--Dr Surjit Singh Ahuja, Dr Preeti Ahuja, Shivam Aggarwal, Rajesh Kumar, Ram Prakash Kushwaha, Narendra Singh, Rohit Tiwari, Kuldeep Singh Raghav, Rajesh Tomar and Parvez Saifi-- all of whom were sent to jail. Another accused, Mudassar Ali, who had been absconding earlier, later surrendered before the court.Station officer Kamlesh Rai said investigation teams are actively pursuing leads and conducting raids to apprehend the remaining accused.
