A delegation of the Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI) met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Monday and urged the State government to make substantial budgetary allocations for key infrastructure and industrial projects in the Kalyana Karnataka region in the forthcoming State Budget.

KKCCI president Sharanabasappa M. Pappa and honorary secretary Shivraj V. Inginshetty represented the Chamber at the pre-Budget consultation meeting with industry associations convened by the Chief Minister.

During the interaction, they submitted a detailed memorandum outlining the region’s developmental priorities and long-pending demands.

The Chamber strongly pressed for the allocation of adequate funds for the PM-MITRA Mega Textile Park in Kalaburagi saying that though the project has been announced, there has been limited visible progress on the ground. Given that Kalyana Karnataka is a cotton-rich belt, timely budgetary support for infrastructure development is crucial to attract investments and generate large-scale employment, the delegation said.

KKCCI also referred to the Govind Rao Committee Report which has identified Kalyana Karnataka as one of the most backward regions in the State, with six districts categorised as most backward.

The Chamber urged the State government to implement the committee’s recommendations in letter and spirit and ensure region-specific allocations to address historical imbalances.

Highlighting mounting infrastructure constraints in Kalaburagi city, the Chamber sought sanction and budgetary allocation for a new Outer Ring Road along with land acquisition. The existing ring road, now within city limits, is facing severe congestion, leading to frequent accidents and operational difficulties for businesses, the delegation pointed out.

The Chamber also demanded the establishment of a new Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) Yard in Kalaburagi. With the current APMC having come under city limits, traders, transporters and farmers are facing logistical hurdles. KKCCI requested immediate budgetary provision for land acquisition and development of a modern, well-equipped APMC facility.

Recognising the region’s strength in pulse production, the Chamber urged the State government to strengthen the Toor Dal Board to better support farmers, traders and processing industries in Kalyana Karnataka.

In addition, KKCCI proposed the development of an industrial corridor along the Bharatmala Surat-Chennai Superfast Express Highway passing through Kalaburagi, Yadgir and Raichur districts. Establishing such a corridor, it said, will significantly boost industrialisation, logistics and investment opportunities in the region.

The Chamber said that due to time constraints during the meeting, only key issues could be highlighted before the Chief Minister. However, a comprehensive memorandum containing detailed sector-wise recommendations has been formally submitted to the State government for consideration.

Expressing confidence that the State government will respond positively, Mr. Pappa said that the KKCCI delegation hopes that the forthcoming Budget will reflect a strong commitment to equitable regional development and accelerated economic growth in Kalyana Karnataka.
