Kochi Corporation submits nine priority projects to Kerala CM for State support

A delegation from the Kochi Corporation led by Mayor V.K. Minimol has handed over to Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan a list of nine projects prioritised by the civic body for sustainable development and infrastructure improvement in the city.

Hibi Eden, MP, MLAs T.J. Vinod, Uma Thomas, Tony Chammany, Mohammed Shiyas, and Deepak Joy, along with various standing committee chairpersons and the Corporation Secretary, were also present. The meeting was held on Friday.

Projects to address traffic congestion, drinking water shortage, and waste management are among those included in the list. The Thammanam–Pulleppady Road, Goshree–Mamangalam Road with a new bridge, Palluruthy 40-feet Road, Atlantis railway overbridge, Mattancherry Halt railway overbridge, the 190 MLD drinking water project for Kochi and surrounding areas, Thammanam water tank, Brahmapuram Integrated Waste Management and Waste-to-Energy project, Vembanad Lake rejuvenation mission for preventing waterlogging and protecting the environment, and the Indira Canteen project to provide affordable meals to the public are among the priority projects.

The Corporation hopes to secure State government assistance in the form of land acquisition permissions, one-time financial aid, and overall support for the time-bound completion and execution of these projects.
