Koderma Court Sentences Suraj Rana to Life Imprisonment for Driver's Kidnap and Murder

Koderma: A Koderma court on Saturday sentenced Suraj Rana (29) of Domchanch to life imprisonment for driver Pradeep Pandit’s kidnap and murder in 2023. It also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Rana.Additional district and sessions Judge Rakesh Chandra held Rana guilty under multiple sections of the IPC, including murder, kidnapping and destruction of evidence.Pandit worked as a driver for one Daljit Singh. His wife, Sunita Devi, lodged an FIR with Tilaiya police alleging that Pandit travelled to Koderma town with Singh on Oct 21, 2023, but did not return and his mobile phone remained switched off.Public prosecutor Praveen Kumar Singh said the murder was linked to an earlier case of gold robbery in which Daljit, Pradeep, and Suraj were involved.

A dispute arose over the robbery and Pandit was killed.During the trial, PP Praveen Kumar Singh produced all witnesses and pressed for maximum punishment, stressing on the gruesome nature of the crime. Defence counsel Anwar Hussain argued for the accused, but the court found the evidence against Rana overwhelming.
