The people of Kothur and Balayapalle in Tirupati district have put up a banner at the entrance of their villages, preventing the entry of private school buses. Inspired by the ‘Badi Pilustondi’ programme initiated by the State government, they have made a resolution to admit their children in the government schools only.
Under the supervision of Tirupati District Educational Officer (DEO) K.V.N. Kumar, the ‘Badi Pilustondi’ rally was organised as a door-to-door campaign in 36 mandals in 36 days. As a result of the impact of this initiative, the villagers have now made this decision.
The local people said that they would not allow any private school bus to enter their villages from now on. School Committee Chairman Mallikarjuna and parents of the students participated in a rally which was organised in the village.
Mandal District Educational Officer (MEOs) G. Nageswara Rao, Pradeep Kumar, H.M. Ratnayya also took part in the rally.
